Convention Staff
Our Convention Staff
As well as our Committee, there are a lot of other people who help us make the convention better. Among those are our Convention Staff, who tirelessly volunteer their time and skills to assist our planning and keep everything running as smoothly as possible. Dramatics Team – Bobby Greaney, Dieuwertje Schuur, & Roy Ayres
Bobby Greaney (Badge C032: Tmesis)
With great nepotism comes great responsibility. Bobby, also known as Shiv’s little brother, has been reckoned to be the easiest convention staff member to spot in a crowd due to his comically absurd height.
Dieuwertje Schuur (Badge C021: Dieuwertje)
Dieuwertje is best known for having reduced Pat Harkin to a tongue-tied state when he tried to announce her at a Maskerade, as well as for throwing herself wholeheartedly into her roles, including Moist and Lady Sybil.
Roy Ayres (Badge C022: Ptah Roy)
Roy wandered in from somewhere looking for more Dried Frog Pills. Having been a Willikins and a Djelibeybian Bridge Builder (nobody mention the P word!), he is nowadays a Spoon-wielding Bursar, when he is not running an online Werewolf group along with Jingles and the Landlady.
Volunteer Wrangler & Accessibility – Sarah Waters (Badge C023: Orangutan Wrangler)
The Orangutan Wrangler, a.k.a. Sarah Waters, is the founding member of IDWCon's mounted division, and can often be seen zipping about and getting up to all sorts of mischief and shenanigans at the event under the guise of “helping”.
Guest Liaison – Pete Haddock (Badge C024: Acting Captain Haddock)
Pete first met Sir Terry around 2001, and after agreeing they both had a friendly chin and head, he was persuaded by a friend to attend his first convention and has been part of the Discworld family ever since. He has had the good fortune to attend many other events and is the founder of The Lodge of Old Bar Stewards, which had its first meeting at the Irish convention in 2015 and has since raised well over 1200 euros for charity.
Green Dots & Merchandise – Chris Belcher (Badge C025: Belch)
Chris is our Invisible Illness consultant for our Green Dots programme, as not everyone has a visible physical difficulty. He will also be using his excel monkey skills for merchandise research. Shiv gave him a choice, honest she did…
Swordmaster – Johan Spruijt (Badge C026: Blackboard Monitor)
Commander Vimes is back for the fourth IDWCon running, ready to teach anyone how to wield the pointy implement of their choice. If you want to learn how to fight, or how to fight dirty, look for the dented breastplate or head towards the shouting down the hall.
Tech Assistant – Bodo Bellut (Badge C027: Bodo)
Bodo was born. It went downhill from there.
Bodo has been part of the International Discworld Convention since 2002 , the Irish Discworld Convention since 2013 and the Tech Crew since somewhere around 2006 (records are hazy). In real life, Bodo ensures tiny little packages of information are sent where they belong. In his spare time, he runs a non-profit ISP with attached educational branch, as well as a charitable foundation in the same sector. In rare cases of free time, Bodo enjoys playing boardgames and roleplaying.

Programme Assistant – Kirstine Heald (Badge C028: The Landlady)
Rob, our Programme master, cannot be in two, three, four, or five places at once. But Kirstine often can, through some sort of quantum. Honestly, we’re not sure where she gets the energy, as even the amount of tea consumed shouldn’t mean dancing and Werewolf and acting all fitted in, and yet, she does it!
Volunteer Assistant – Graham O'Mara (Badge C029: Doughnut the Driver)
Igor AKA “Doughnut the Driver” is a valued member of the Ankh-Morpork and Sto Plains Hygienic Railway, being the first Igor in their employ. He is here to assist you.
ConCom Welfare – Aoife Conway (Badge C030: Gypsy)
Aoife is taking a slight hiatus from running around like a lunatic, and will be supporting our beloved committee in a more casual role this year (e.g. finding lemsips, giving hugs, etc.).
Hotel Liaison – Kerry Butcher (Badge C009: KerryinCork)
I am called Kerry, I hail from Cork. I first fell in love with the Discworld when I saw one of my classmates reading a Terry Pratchett novel in class one. I asked him about the book and he lent me Reaper Man – and the rest, as they say, is history.
This will be my fourth IDWCon and I simply love them. I am really looking forward to seeing you all again in March!
Concom Admin – Jane Hesling (Badge C010: AstroJane)
While attending her second Discworld convention, Jane somehow got roped into being Secretary for the Irish Discworld convention. Always happy to help!
Jane first got into Discworld after listening to Tony Robinson reading The Colour of Magic. She then ended up quoting it in her university application (it worked, by the way). Now she's just delving further and further into the Discworld!
